Two-weeks cruise in the north of Sardinia

Punta Ala is an ideal starting point to get to Sardinia leaving directly from the continent. The Archipelago of La Maddalena and the Straits of Bonifacio offer ever-present wind conditions, with sea that remains however manageable, being the fetch interrupted by numerous islands. Also a plenty of sheltered bays always offer safe anchorings in magic places. The village of Stintino is a very pleasant stop. The Pass of Fornelli, with its alignments (to do only with totally calm sea) provides a shortcut for moving south towards Capo Caccia and Alghero

The Commander suggests:

  • the bays not to miss: at Santa Maria theCala Santa maria, at Budelli at nord or south of Passo cecca di Morto, depending of the wind, at Spargi the Cala Corsara, at La Maddalena Cala Francese, at Caprera Cala Coticcio and Porto Palma. At Lavezzi Cala Lanzarina, at Cavallo Cala of Zeri. At Stintino La Pelosa, at Capo Caccia, Porto Conte
  • Island of Asinara: mooring buoy by reservation (call for details) and a guided tour of the Island
  • At Capo Caccia: visit the Grotto of Neptune accessible by a boat service or on foot starting from the lighthouse down for a long and impressive staircase. To Boniface: a walk to the cliff to see Cape Pertusato

Two-weeks cruise in Corsica

Punta Ala is an ideal starting point for a cruise in Corsica leaving directly from the continent. The classic tour is done in a counterclockwise direction. Wanting to reduce the distance you can make the line Calvi-Girolata stopping to Marina d'Elbo only for a lunch break and, instead, split the Bastia-Porto Vecchio tract doing a stop in Porto Taverna, or to do Porto Vecchio-Porto Taverna and then Porto Tavern-Marina di Campo, jumping Bastia. Not to miss, instead, is a stop in the archipelago of La Maddalena, where the chances to spend a night in beautiful places are infinite.

The Commander suggests:

  • The beach of Saleccia, in the desert of Agriates, for an unforgettable bath
  • At the Girolata: a drink at the bar on the beach and dinner in one of the restaurants overlooking the bay
  • The natural reserve of Scandola and the gullies of the gulf of Porto
  • The island of Lavezzi, mooring in Cala Lazarina in the evening, when the motor-boats go away

Two-weeks cruise in the Tuscan Archipelago

Elba Island is located two hours by boat from Punta Ala and its conformation can always offer a secure shelter with any sea condition. Beautiful coves interspersed with modern marinas, where you can have diesel, water and galley and spend the evening in pleasant restaurants. Capraia is a beautiful island, still largely wilderness, with a lovely marina and a small village placed higher, dominated by a castle of 1540. Even more distinctive is the village of Giglio Castello, fortified to resist the incursions of the Saracens. The Giannutri is a private island where only electric cars are allowed and the roads are unpaved. There are not marinas and you anchor in Spalmatoio bay or Cala Maestra.

The Commander suggests:

  • Giannutri: Do not miss a trek early in the morning immersed in a maquis of great beauty
  • Giglio Island: with a little luck mooring to Giglio Porto and dinner in the evening to Giglio Castello
  • Elba sland: nothing better than to tour it on a scooter. For bathing do not miss Fetovaia, Punta Calamita and Capo d'Enfola
  • Capraia Island: wild and beautiful, after the marina well worth a night in the bay of Cala Moreto
