One-week cruise on the Island of Elba and Capraia

Elba Island is located two hours by boat from Punta Ala and its conformation can always offer a secure shelter with any sea condition. Beautiful coves interspersed with some modern marinas where you can have diesel, water and galley and spend the evening in pleasant restaurants. Capraia is a beautiful island, still largely wilderness, with a lovely marina and a small village placed higher, dominated by a castle of 1540. Recent renovations and the new marina have given new impetus to tourism while remaining an island distant from crowding and reserved for few. A trek to visit the ancient abandoned prison in the island offers a splendid view of the port and the castle

The Commander suggest:

  • Elba Island: nothing better than to visit it by scooter. For the bathing do not miss Fetovaia, Punta Calamita, Gulf Stella and Capo d'Enfola
  • For diving enthusiasts: in front of Pomonte, at a depth of 16 meters, lies the wreck of the Elviscott, a ship of 25 meters sank in the 70's
  • Capraia: wild and beautiful, well worth a night in the bay of Cala Moreto

One-week cruise in the north of Corsica

Punta Ala is a very convenient starting point for a cruise in Corsica sailing directly from the continent. After boarding you can decide whether to make a nightly trip to go directly to Macinaggio, or to spend the night at Elba Island, to Marina di Campo or Fetovaia and to do the last miles in the morning. In one week you can arrive up to Calvi, making the longest stages, or simply stay at the beach of Saint Florent and Saleccia and then return to Punta Ala, stopping off at Capraia. A variant of this second option also includes a first step direct to Bastia or Elba Bastia and then Macinaggio, Saint Florent , Centuri, Capraia and Punta Ala

The Commander suggests:

  • Before to moor to Macinaggio, take a bath at Finocchiarola in the nature reserve, where is also nice to spend the night at anchor. Centuri: a charming fishing village with a marina inaccessible to sailboats (put the anchor to the front or in the cove just south) and go into the marina with the dinghy for dinner.
  • Nonza: pay attention to the sea bottom which slopes steeply down (do not leave the boat unattended). Climb down the path that leads up to the village and from there to observe the inscriptions made with the pebbles on the beach below. At Saint Florent is fun to go up on the Aliso river with the dinghy
  • Calvi: Foreign Legion paratroopers make their exercise by jumping in front of the bay
  • The Saleccia beach, in the desert Agriates, memorable for a swim

One-week cruise among Argentario, Giglio and Giannutri

Seen from the sea the promontory of Argentario seems to be an island, being connected to the inland by two thin strips of ground. Notable the villages of Porto Ercole and Santo Stefano, as well as the village of Talamone, located a few miles further north. The Giannutri island worth a trek to discover the place of the lighthouse at the southern end, where you can admire the Grottoni and a visit to the ancient Roman villa from which to enjoy beautiful sunsets over the sea. At the island of Giglio, if you can not find place in the harbor, with winds third and fourth quadrant you can anchor just north of the port itself, to Cala del Lazzaretto, or immediately to the south, at Cala delle Cannelle. With southerly winds on the other side of the island there is the gulf of Campese, perfectly sheltered

The Commander suggests:

  • Giannutri: with steady winds from SE you can moor inside the ancient Roman port of Cala Maestra, giving ropes to the ground and swim in a beautiful natural pool
  • Giglio Island: visita of Giglio Castello and return to Giglio porto along the footpath
  • Argentario: on the route forward in calm sea conditions, stop to the Ants of Grosseto.
  • At return stop to Cala di Forno, on the natural park of Uccellina, where deer and roe deer calmly walks on the beach
